The coursework question is:
How does Miller manipulate our perception of John Proctor in The Crucible?
Homework for Monday 23rd Nov. is to write the introduction to your essay.
The introduction should include some
background info. For example, when the play was written and when it was set and how McCarthyism and the Salem witch trials can be seen as a parallel. You might want to explore why you think Miller wrote the play (what was he trying to achieve?). You might want to mention the meaning of the title (or you could keep this for later in the essay). The essay will focus on Proctor. What is Proctor's role in the play?

Here are a few links to pages which discuss Proctor. (Be careful: your essay must be your own work. Do not use extended phrases or sentences that are not your own! You can take ideas from sources but you must write everything IN YOUR OWN WORDS!)
